IMPACT CAMPAIGN

As the political crisis in Venezuela has worsened, the humanitarian crisis has reached a boiling point. The minimum monthly wage in 2019 was less than 2 dollars. For working-class communities, scarcity and hunger are growing with predictions that 70 % of children in Venezuela show signs of malnutrition (Cord Aid).

Close to 5 million Venezuelan’s have been forced to leave the country since 2014, resulting in the largest exodus in Latin America in recent years (UNHCR). Not only has this put a strain on the welfare provisions of neighbouring countries, but it has also led to rising xenophobia, misunderstanding & mistreatment.

We want to engage the Venezuelan diaspora, and beyond, to fight for the future of our country.

With the right resources, we will build a campaign to:

INCREASE AWARENESS OF THE SITUATION IN VENEZUELA

Let’s put conversations about Venezuela back on the map. We need to talk about what is happening for people on the ground, for those who have been forced to leave & question why too little is being done about it.

RAISE ACTION TO FIGHT THE HUMANITARIAN CRISIS FACING COMMUNITIES

We want to partner with organisations and groups on the ground to raise action and drive people towards your work; whether that’s driving donations or website traffic. If you are leading in this space and want to partner with us please reach out!

CHALLENGE NARRATIVES AROUND WHY PEOPLE ARE FORCED TO FLEE THEIR HOMES

No one chooses to be displaced. Let’s open up the conversation around why people are forced to leave their homes and talk about the plight that displaced people often face around the world.

SPARK DIALOGUE ABOUT THE VALUE & FRAGILITY OF STABLE DEMOCRACIES

We want to break down large-scale political ideologies and bring people together to discuss the core values of the societies that we want to create. We must not take democracy as guaranteed but instead, treat it as a gift to nurture and fight for.

Please sign up to our mailing list to hear about future developments as we build out our Impact Campaign.

If you’re organisation deals with any of the issues above and you want to have a conversation with us, please reach out to info@onceuponatimeinvenezuela.com
